Keeping a Young Sense of Smell
by Victoria
Do you have a grandparent or know of someone who has lost
their sense of smell? Loss of smell can lead to a loss of
appetite and can reduce the enjoyment of life. What we
smell stimulates all kinds of activity in the brain from
memories to emotions to sexual responses and salivary
glands.
As we age, our food does not digest as well and as a
result we absorb fewer nutrients, including minerals.
The mineral zinc is closely tied to the sense of smell, so
it could be a zinc deficiency that is robbing you of the
incredible sense of smell. Taking a good vitamin/mineral
supplement that includes at least 15 mg of zinc should
take care of the problem.
According to Dr. John Lee, if you have lost your sense of
smell, try taking at least 15 mg of zinc daily for a few
months; men can take up to 30 mg daily. Women should not
take more than 30 mg daily and men shouldn't take more
than 50 mg daily for more than a few weeks.
The conclusion is always the same. When the body is not
getting the right nutrients, unwanted symptoms arise.
Make sure you are nourishing your body properly by
following a healthy eating plan as well as taking a few
good supplements that encourage your body to heal itself. |
