Pregnancy Tips - by Monica Nelson

1. Talk to your doctor about taking a pre-natal vitamin every day. Most women do not get enough folic acid in their daily diets. Folic acid is proven to prevent birth defects. Many other vitamins and minerals are needed for a healthy pregnancy. Your doctor can tell you if you need a pre-natal vitamin.

2. Avoid ingesting most alcoholic beverages, dietary supplements and medicines unless directed by your doctor. Remember that everything that you put into your body is also going into your baby’s body. Be careful.

3. Eat healthy foods such as yogurt, cheese, bananas, oranges, green vegetables and chicken. Get nutritious calcium and iron and vitamin C, etc., from eating a healthy and balanced diet.

4. Get plenty of rest. Pregnancy is stressful on your body. You will feel more tired than usual. It is normal to want to take a nap during the day, or at least to lay down and prop your feet up for a while. Your hormones may also be causing mood swings. Getting a lot of sleep can help your mood.

5. Keep a list of the early signs of pregnancy symptoms handy so you may refer to it often. That way when you experience a change you will know it is a normal symptom and not something to worry and wonder about. Some of these symptoms can be quite surprising so it is good to know what they are and what to expect.

6. Hook up with some pregnancy buddies. There are many chat boards online where Moms-to-be hang out and share stories and experiences. You can even find a group who share the same month due date as you. This helps you feel like you are not going through this alone and you have others going through it along with you.

7. Take it one day at a time. Today is a wonderful day to have a beautiful baby growing inside of you. It is a miracle of nature happening and you are doing a good job of helping the miracle happen. Instead of thinking about the nine months ahead of you, just think about one day, today. You can do anything for one day. Meet today with a smile. Just think, you are doing something no man can ever do, or will ever know, or ever experience. It is special and wonderful, just like you.
