That is roughly the amount of calories that are contained in a pound of fat, minus the water. Keep in mind that this is not the only component to weight loss, and consuming less does not guarantee that you will lose exactly this amount. It is still important to pay attention to the types of food that you eat and to incorporate exercise as permitted. It is also very helpful to eat in several small meals throughout the day, as opposed to 1-2 times. Late night feasts are the worst of all. Eating every few hours or so should signal to your body that it does not need to store excess calories as body fat. This, coupled with the increased need for calories due to exercise, can really help to tune up the metabolism. Also, contrary to what you may think, many people believe that some of the chemical additives to diet foods can actually cause you to crave more. This may or may not be true, but consider that most people don’t shed unwanted pounds by simply switching to these types of foods. Instead try to eat raw and unprocessed foods as much as possible. If you have problems with weight loss despite exercise and a good diet, you may need to have other factors evaluated such as thyroid function and other hormone levels. A natural doctor such as a naturopath can easily perform the tests that are necessary.
