I am having a little trouble finding information about a condition when one of the kidneys is twisted. I had a sonogram done of my abdomen and found out I have a kidney that is supposedly twisted.
Is this a dangerous condition? Is there anyway to untwist the kidney? |

| From what you are describing this sounds like the result of a genetic condition and not of an injury. If that is the case, your body has most likely developed in such a way as to support your kidney in its present position. I don’t believe that there is any safe way to un-twist it because of the likely structure of the supporting tissues. If your present kidney function is not impaired, I don’t think that it is particularly dangerous. I would encourage you to discuss it further with your doctor to see if there are any indications of impaired function. He or she would likely have mentioned it to you earlier; however, it is better to follow up and make sure that you have obtained all the information that the doctor has to offer. |
