Hello
I've been suffering with UC for several years but I'm at a point where it controlling me rather than me controlling it. I can't hold a job because I've severe flare-up and I get so stiff I can't walk. The pain is so bad. Can't anyone give me some tips on how to get this under control. The bleeding is so bad it's scary. Whati is Oxy-powder? Does it works? If so how do I get it? I've been taken Advil/BC powder for the joint stiffness, but I can't get the bleeding and diarreha to stop. _________________ A. Henderson |

Ulcerative colitis is often very difficult to manage and can become debilitating. Of course, in any case of intestinal bleeding, you should be examined by a physician to make sure that there are no other causes beside the colitis. In your case, the Advil may actually be contributing to the bleeding as this is a possibility with all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Oxy-Powder is an oxygen-based colon cleanser that releases monatomic oxygen throughout the length of the digestive tract in order to cleanse the intestines. Many people that suffer from UC and other inflammatory bowel disorder find that it can be very supportive. Many practitioners recommend beginning with a half-dose (2 capsules) and then gradually increasing according to tolerance. There are a number of other supplements that may also be very supportive in this situation:
1. Probiotics- Good bacteria such as that found in Latero-flora can help to balance the intestinal flora and has been shown to be very beneficial in cases of UC.
2. Systemic Enzymes- Enzymes like the ones in Zymitol can aid in normalizing the inflammatory process and in breaking down protein complexes that can increase allergic-type reactions.
3. Calcium orotate- This form of calcium as found in Intracal has shown to be useful in cases of bowel inflammation.
4. Basic Nutrients- I would also suggest trying Intramax and E3 Live in order to provide highly-absorbable vitamins and minerals. The inflammation and bleeding in the digestive tract can reduce the nutrients that are absorbed from the foods that you eat. Many of these nutrients are required for the body to heal its tissues.
Another important strategy is to closely monitor your diet. It is probably best to reduce or completely eliminate dairy, red meat, wheat, and other foods or types of foods to which you may be sensitive. A primarily raw, organic diet tends to work best for many bowel conditions. |
