I have two fibroids, 6cm and 8cm in diameter. I don't have any pain or excessive bleeding because of them, but I am developing quite a bit of discomfort because they press on my bladder. I just can't handle the thought of being sliced open and my uterus cut out.
Is there a natural way to shrink fibroids? |

I cannot blame you for wanting to avoid surgery. There are definitely some less invasive methods to investigate. Fibroids are often considered to a result of an imbalance in the ratio of estrogen to progesterone. In alternative medicine, this is generally addressed through the targeted use of progesterone cream. I would suggest working with an experienced practitioner that can establish a baseline of your hormone levels through salivary testing and then monitor them over a period of time. Keep in mind that hormone changes are gradual and you should allow 3-6 months in order to gauge effectiveness. The other side of this equation is helping the body to effectively metabolize estrogen compounds. There are a number of supplements that may help in this process, but one of the first things to do is cleanse the body so that the supplementation is effective and the liver is working optimally. I would suggest a colon cleanse followed by a liver/gallbladder flush. A great protocol for this process can be found at www.ghchealth.com/liver-and-gallbladder-flush.html. People with sluggish livers sometimes opt to perform multiple liver flushes with only a few weeks break in between each one.
In terms of assisting the body to metabolize estrogen and other hormones effectively, one of the more important supplements is probiotics. I often recommend and take Latero-flora to help replenish the beneficial bacteria in the bowel. There are literally hundreds of different strains that can be helpful. These “good” bacteria are crucial in the body’s mechanism to eliminate hormone metabolites and environmental toxins that can contribute to hormone problems. Some other supplements that may be beneficial in this area include Calcium-D-Glucarate, Indole-3-Carbinols (I3C), and natural vitamin E (I often suggest one made by DC Labs that it a mix of several forms of natural E, 3 capsules twice a day is a good dose for many people). Please keep in mind that this is not a comprehensive list by any means but rather some supplements that you might research. I would also suggest eating a diet that is low in meat and dairy products; I would eat only organic products in this category since many of the commercial products contain hormones and antibiotics that could be detrimental to reaching your goal. I would seriously consider visiting a naturopath, experienced chiropractor, or some physician that is trained in natural hormone balancing techniques. This person should be able to guide you through your supplements and, most importantly, monitor your hormone levels and the size of the fibroids. For further education, you can read the ebook, Balancing Your Hormones Without Drugs... You Can Feel Good Again, and also one of the many books by Dr. John R. Lee. Good luck! |
