Hi Everyone, Here is Dr. Group's Quote of the Month:
“It is best to put
our total trust in God, knowing that every event in our life happens for
a reason.
Often we become so concerned about the agendas of others and the belief in
our own perceptions that happiness and peace become nonexistent leading
to a suspicious attitude which often permeates the mind like a poison. Trust
and be strong so that nothing disturbs your peace of mind.”

Hi
Everyone!
The end of
August brings about the beginning of school, football games and a glimpse of
cooler weather around the bend. Enjoy these last days of summer by partaking
of the last harvests of fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, bright sunshine and a
nice, cold glass of herbal tea.
This August
2004 edition of Alternative Health & Healing is
devoted to alerting you about the most up-to-date happenings here in our the
United States and
across the world regarding topics such as
CODEX, quackbusters, and Global Harm-onization. Included are several articles
that are intended for educational purposes and to let you know that truly “things
are not always as they seem.” We must not be afraid of education, as this
will allow us to recognize and stop the forces that would take away our freedoms
in the name of Global Unity. We often have people ask us, “What can we
do and how can we help?” First of all, send this information to everyone
in your email address book and ask him or her to do the same. Second of all,
you may wish to consider donating to John Hammell’s organization,
IAHF.
Notice the trend to
allow a group of doctors/lawyers that seemingly have nothing to do, to dictate
to us what is good for our health and what is not. Not only
is this going on with Bob Jones and his Cavitat, but also in the state of California
where natural progesterone is now on a list of “cancer-causing agents”.
Again, we can credit a few lawyers, who obviously have way too much time on
their hands, for this fiasco. The lawsuits that result should never have to
happen in the first place as it’s a waste of time and money to have to
continually defend a natural approach that in no way will harm anyone and can,
in most instances, help or even heal. Why must we continually “fight” for
the right to choose the means we use to take care of our own health? It all
boils down to the philosophy of our government: “Don’t worry, we
will take care of you.” When people begin to stand-up for their health
freedoms the government begins to come down hard. Why? All we can say is…follow
the money.
We hope you enjoy this edition and we appreciate the fact that you are among
the ones that have chosen to take responsibility for their own health!

Black
Days For Quackbusters...
Opinion
by Consumer Advocate Tim Bolen - Monday, August 16th, 2004
There's a change in the tide...
For years the battle to provide appropriate health care for Americans was fought
by the "healers" and their support groups - one defensive action after
another, with each individual interest group re-inventing the wheel, almost every
time. Then came the "activists," those who sort of understood the political
system - they introduced legislation here and there. Then came the "philosophers," and
the "educators" - bringing social awareness.
But Big Pharma kept coming. The stakes were high.
Then the "business" class began to see the paradigm shift, and the
realization that "Health" was a real competitor to "Medicine" came
fully of age. The supplement industry began to take a big bite. The non-drug
groups beat their drums. The electro-medicine tribe began their long march.
Big Pharma fought back.
Now, "Health" is big business. More than half of the total U.S. health
dollar is spent on alternatives to "medicine." Things change when business
people are making the decisions. Business people think differently, and set about
solving problems differently, than healers, activists, philosophers, or educators.
For the "Health" world that's a good thing.
Business people have no qualms about "getting rough" with
someone attacking their nest. To business, war is just a cost of doing business.
To business people,
when a competitor attacks, they hit back - hard. Hiring "warriors" is
no big deal - they get a tax write-off for it. Business people in the "Health" industry
simply recognize that Big Pharma, and its goon network, like the "quackbusters," needs
to be shoved back - with some manners taught to them.
Enter the "Warrior" Class...
Since the beginning of time there have been those of us who thrive on conflict.
Those who keep their sword razor sharp, and train endlessly, making contingency
plans for the next assault, even though it may not happen. There are those of
us who understand, quite well, the psyche, and the methodology, of Attila the
Hun, the reasoning, and execution, of Attaturk, Charlemagne, and the old master,
Sun Tzu... There are those of us who understand war, quite well.
War is not for the timid
Bob Jones the inventor of "Cavitat" is certainly not timid. He spent
years proving his Cavitat device had merit - so much merit, he scares the crap
out of "big dentistry." His device, literally, tears apart long, and
strongly held, beliefs in dentistry. His "Cavitat" device shows that
dentistry's highly profitable "root canal" method is, and always as
been, an oral cess-pool of bacteria of the worst kind - the kind that can, will,
and does, literally, stop the human heart from beating. His device changes dentistry
forever.
The "quackbusters" are
an industry unto themselves. It is their job to stop new things in health care.
Originally started, and funded, by 26 drug
companies, they've expanded to become the misdirection agency for everything
new in health care. They get paid to stop, or damage, anything, and everything,
that competes with the status quo. When something new arrives on the health scene,
soon you'll see an article about it on delicensed MD Stephen Barrett's dubious
website "quackwatch.com." And Barrett, and his sleazy quackpot
friends, are more than willing to testify against that new thing, claiming to
be experts
at something that, a few days before, they'd never even heard of. For a price.
They made the mistake of trying that crap on Bob Jones. They used their usual
sleazy "bad-mouthing," bringing in two of their lower-level "testifying
whores," Dodes and Schissell, from the ludicrous "dentalwatch.com" infamy.
Dodes and Schissell wrote a so-called "scientific paper," which NO
peer reviewed JOURNAL would publish, but Barrett put on his website, parading
it as though it had merit.
Everything would have been fine, because, in the industry, for the most part,
Barrett, and his cronies have the acceptance of dog doo-doo on your shoe. Aetna
Insurance, for reasons not yet revealed, however, chose to accept quackbuster crap
as credible - and chose to republish their statements, with statements of their
own, added.
So Bob Jones said "Oh yeah?" And down he went, into central Denver,
and plopped himself down in front of nationally famous civil rights attorney
Walter Gerash, and said "Walter, I need your help on something..."
Now, Walter Gerash, had as his mentor one Melvin Belli. Nationally, Gerash is
on par with F. Lee Bailey, Johnny Cochran, Jerry Spense, or Robert Shapiro. Gerash,
in the Courtroom, is a modern day William Jennings Bryan, an orator who, syndicated
columnist Alan Prendergast says:
"He lurks in the bad dreams of hungry prosecutors
and hidebound judges, a caped avenger in
bolo tie and maroon beret. The cameras
catch him exiting
the courtroom
in the eye of the media whirlwind, a feisty
bantamweight with a large voice--a voice so thunderous
when raised
in outrage that one
frazzled judge felt compelled
to note for the record that defense counsel
was bellowing. But if you're in trouble with the
Man, there's no sweeter
sound than
when he stands before the
bench and
introduces himself:
"Walter Gerash for the defense, your honor."
Go to Google
and look up Walter Gerash - you'll be impressed. I think, here in the North
American Health Freedom Movement, we're in for a
new wrinkle.
Good...
Welcome to the war, Walter... Everybody - the FUN HAS BEGUN.
Stay tuned... BREAKING

| The Poisoning of New Zealand |
THE POISONING
OF NEW ZEALAND
THE 'ERIN BROKOVICH'-STYLE SCANDAL IN NEW
ZEALAND'S BACKYARD
Outbreaks of rare diseases and tumors are appearing in clusters
around New Zealand, close to chemical factories. Why doesn't the Government
want to investigate? SIMON JONES discovers what the authorities don't want
you to know:
Walk down any street in New Plymouth and you will probably hear a mixture
of coughing and spluttering. Look inside any school and there appears to
be more special needs children than is the norm for a city the size of New
Plymouth. It's often been said that everyone knows someone with a serious
disease, whether it be cancer or multiple sclerosis.
Bad luck? Possibly, but for the last 15 years a group of residents have
turned scientists to uncover what they say is a national health scandal -
and one which, despite the government and media's persistent attempts to
ignore, won't go away.
They may sound like conspiracy theorists in overdrive - and there is little
in the way of official evidence and health statistics to back up what they
say. But here is the frightening thing: If, in this real-life game of Fact
or Fiction?, only 10 percent of what the residents say is true, we have a
huge health scandal on our hands - the magnitude and implications of which
are unimaginable.
The story centers around one of the city's major employers, the Ivon Watkins
Dow Plant.
Since the early 1960s, and up until 1987, it manufactured the 2,4,5T herbicide
- which contains the deadly dioxin also used to form Agent Orange - a weapon
of huge destruction in the Vietnam War.
In New Zealand and around the world 2,4,5T is used to kill scrub, gorse
and blackberry. In Vietnam, with concentrations of dioxin much higher, it
had the same effect - to the extent where it devastated the country's crops
and caused major health problems amongst veterans, including cancer, multiple
sclerosis, while creating learning difficulties amongst the vets' children.
Is it just coincidence that many in New Plymouth - and in areas around New
Zealand, where this herbicide was extensively sprayed, complain about the
same health problems?
For year’s governments, both here and overseas, turned
a blind eye to the damaging effects of dioxin, refusing to admit that there
was any link
between Agent Orange and health problems suffered by vets.
Yet recently, in a draft report leaked to the Washington Post, the US government
upgraded dioxin to a 'human carcinogen' - in other words a substance which
is a major cause of cancer, as well as birth defects and infertility.
Only a pending lawsuit by New York restaurant owners, who claim the link
to cancer will scare away customers, has blocked publication of the report.
The US Environmental Protection Agency notes that emissions of dioxin have
plummeted from peak levels in the 1970s, but still pose a significant threat
to some who ingest it - mostly in food, especially food of animal origin.
John Moller, the president of the Vietnam Veterans Association, says it
is ironic that some of the 3,800 Kiwi vets who served during the war came
home to find that they were still partly exposed to chemicals associated
with Agent Orange either by living in New Plymouth or areas where the herbicide
was sprayed.
"The New Zealand government says that because of the
few figures involved and the time span it is not worth running tests on
veterans now.
"That's rubbish because the government has given $200,000
to the nuclear test veterans association for research and legal fees. Their
exposure happened
before Vietnam and their figures are much smaller.
"The government has buried its head in the sand for too long," he
says. "For example, when an enquiry was finally instigated, they took
samples from native forest but not the Pine forest where 2,4,5-T was heavily
used.
"The problem with dioxin exposure is that there is a
30-year envelope. The historical effects are only beginning to come through
now."
The US government invented 2,4,5T in 1941 to be used as a weapon of war
against Japan. Later, with concentrations lower, it is intended to control
unwanted vegetation, most of which is found in Taranaki, Northland and Gisborne.
The manufacture of 2,4,5-T is said to have started in New Zealand around
1962 and by 1970 the number of birth defects in New Plymouth doubled and
the number of cases nationwide started to rise.
Because of international health concerns 2,4,5-T production was halted around
the world - with the exception of one factory, the Ivon Watkins Dow Plant
in New Plymouth which persevered until 1987. The plant is still in operation
today but only produces pesticides.
Levels of dioxin found in 2,4,5-T were reduced through the late 70s and
80s as Ivon Watkins responded to health concerns, yet residents say the effects
of intense manufacture in the 1960s are etched on the faces and, more importantly,
the glands and livers of local people now.
Time for some statistics. The average level of dioxin in Agent Orange was
around 198 parts per million. In New Plymouth, at the peak of production,
the average level in the manufactured product was around 95 parts per million
- around half that of Agent Orange. By 1987 the level of dioxin was down
to 0.1 or 0.05ppm following heightened awareness about the potential health
problems.
Initially residents and workers were happy with health assurances from company
bosses, particularly with the way waste was disposed through burning. But
only recently have secret dumps been found around the city, dumps which residents
say have infected soil and water.
In 1986 the Ministry of Environment held an official inquiry into dioxin
contamination after 300kg of vapor accidentally leaked from the plant. Yet,
interestingly, company bosses admitted that over 250kg of vapor was normally
discharged as a result of the normal process anyway.
The enquiry team concluded that there was no evidence of major contamination
in New Plymouth or of any major health risk Yet residents say that part of
the information used in that research was based on American studies which
have since found to be fraudulent. This is where the issue becomes more complicated.
In 1949 an explosion at the Monsanto chemical plant in Nitro, West Virginia,
exposed many workers to effects of 2,4,5-T. Thirty years later Monsanto scientists
and an independent researcher, Dr Raymond Sunkind, compared death rates amongst
workers exposed to 2,4,5-T to those who hadn't been exposed. When no differences
between the two groups were found, Monsanto claimed that dioxin did not cause
cancer. Evidence of inaccuracies were only exposed in the late 1980s when
a group of Missouri citizens sued Monsanto for alleged injuries suffered
during a chemical spill caused by a train derailment in 1979. While reviewing
documents obtained from Monsanto, it was held in court that during the early
studies, scientists omitted five deaths from the dioxin-exposed and put them
in the unexposed group. Given that, and the leaked report to the Washington
Post, it's small wonder that the residents are now calling for a new inquiry.
It's easy in stories like this to get bogged down with statistics and hearsay.
But it's only when confronted with the truth about health problems in New
Plymouth that people start listening.
Take, for example, the case of Ross Lawrence, 43, who lived
within a stone's throw of the plant and worked there as a storeman between
1980 and 1985.
He contracted non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and Hepatitis C in 1998 - one
year after his wife, Patricia, 41, was diagnosed with breast cancer. To add
salt into the wounds, the 17-year-old family dog, Ena, died of cancer last
year and both Ross's children suffer from a mixture of skin complaints and
bleeding noses.
It's only when you hear stories like Lawrence's that the
word "coincidence" becomes
a little bit too stretched.
"I came home from Pakistan where I was working on an oil rig in 1997
to look after my wife," said Ross. "Shortly after I went to the
doctor after complaining about flu-type symptoms only to be told that I had
cancer and Hepatitis C. Isn't it strange how three of us could get cancer
in one household?"
An extensive course of chemotherapy seems to have thankfully cleared the
cancer, and after having her glands removed, his wife managed to keep both
breasts. But the trauma also brought its psychological toll. The stress and
strain of illness coupled with the loss of his $100,000-a-year job effectively
ended their marriage.
"This could have cost my life," says Lawrence, "and
it probably will in the end because Hep. C never goes away. They should
be made accountable.
How many other people have died of cancer without knowing the cause? How
many other people are going to die?"
Ross Lawrence, like other employees, had few concerns at
the time of working at the Ivon Watkins Plant. "We knew about the
dangers of 2,4,5-T, but it was such a safety orientated company. They held
regular safety meetings
and did everything by the book.
"We were told that the waste was incinerated at temperatures which
were so high that there would be no residue because everything would be dissolved.
It was only when dumps containing the waste were found that I really started
to worry," he adds.
"There is still a cover-up going on. If you walk the
streets of New Plymouth people wouldn't know. Most didn't know what the
factory made. The
local paper, the Daily News prints little on the subject. And the local MP
doesn't want to know."
Now Lawrence is actively working on the local rigs but campaigns with others
to lift what they say is a veil of secrecy over this health scandal.
Another leading the campaign is Andrew Gibbs, who helped set up the Dioxin
Investigation Network. Recently Gibbs sent one sample of blood and a sample
of breast milk to America to check for traces of dioxin, the particular type
of which is called 2378 TCDD which is the most toxic type known to man. Gibbs
claims previous blood tests have been worthless because 2,4,5-T passes through
the system so quickly it leaves no trace. The difference here is that they
would also be testing for its residual, 2378 TCCD.
When they sent the samples to the US, taken from his partner, Iris, and
her sister, Lesley, they went missing for four days. Despite being clearly
marked for an Atlanta laboratory, they ended up in Los Angeles. More than
160 days later, they are still waiting for the results.
"In Vietnam they have found levels of 30 to 108 parts per trillion
in blood," he said. "Levels in Maori women around the Bay of Plenty,
where the herbicide was extensively sprayed, have already been found to be
up around 26.7ppt. As of yet we still don't know what the blood levels are
in New Plymouth."
Gibbs says even burning the waste didn't destroy it. Instead
waste streams left residue in the soil, on washing hanging out to dry and
on barbecues. "We
ate it, breathed it and wore it. When the Yanks burnt it off after Vietnam
they burnt it off 80-90 miles down wind from Johnson Island.
"We burnt ours downwind on the whole town of New Plymouth. In the 1987
enquiry they said they found no evidence of dioxin in people or soil. But
what they had was a 1,500 ppt safe level. The highest recorded in Vietnam
was 808 ppt. In New Plymouth we've already levels up to 310 ppt." His
views may be ignored by health officials in New Zealand, but they have found
credence in America. George Lucier, director of the National Toxicology Programme,
and author of the Environmental Protection Agency report, says there is no
avoiding dioxin.
"Even penguins in Antarctica have dioxin in them. No
one sets out purposely to make dioxin. It is an unwanted side-product that
you get from burning.
Anytime you combine heat, chlorine and organic material, there is the possibility
of making dioxins."
Lucier says scientists did not quite understand how dioxin damaged the body,
but did know it acted on a universal mechanism controlling cell functions.
Dioxin attaches, or binds tightly, to the AII receptor - a kind of cellular
doorway found in virtually all cells in the body. Once there, it changes
the function of hundreds of genes. It will either stimulate gene expression
of suppress it.
Dioxin exposure has been linked to many different tumors, especially non-Hodgkin's
lymphoma, respiratory cancers, soft tissue sarcoma and prostate cancer. One
Italian study of dioxin in children found hormonal changes.
"When they have children, most or all their kids are girls, not boys," says
Lucier. "Dioxin affects pathways that are involved in normal growth
and differentiation, so it can cause birth defects," he adds. "It
can affect sperm counts."
Regional comparisons for cases of multiple sclerosis and
non-Hodgkin’s
lymphoma are hard to find, if not impossible to get. The Ministry of Health
says there are too few cases nationwide to offer a meaningful regional breakdown.
The only figures are available are from the Cancer Mortality Atlas published
as far back as 1982 which says that lymphosarcoma is 'particularly severe'
in New Plymouth, while the number of male deaths from Hodgkin's disease was
'particularly high'.
Yet, there are regional disparities in other areas too. While
New Plymouth is almost three times the national average for Hodgkin’s
Disease, Waipawa is five times. While New Plymouth has three times the
national average for
lymphosarcoma, Strathallan in South Canterbury has seven times.
There are 14 known cases of multiple sclerosis in New Plymouth suburb of
Paritutu, where the plant is based. The figure may sound small, but compare
that to Australia where the rate is 40 per 100,000. That should give Paritutu
just 2.4 cases.
During the 1986 governmental enquiry, Ministry of Health principal toxicologist
Michael Bates defended the higher rates.
"It's normal to get quite a variation everywhere for all cancers. One
area might have a predominantly old group of people for example. But in many
cases no-one is exactly sure why." Yet since 1980 the birth defects
rate in Taranaki has been about 50 per cent higher than the average for the
rest of the country. While it's fair to say regional disparities also occur
in other areas for different types of diseases and abnormalities, Taranaki
usually falls victim to all of them.
50-year-old Roy Drake also lives close to the plant. In 1988 he was diagnosed
with multiple sclerosis. He now finds it almost impossible to walk and is
close to blind.
Being homebound has meant that Drake has spent a lot of his time studying
the effects of Dioxin, looking at international studies from around the world.
"If you look at any major chemical plant anywhere in
the world you will find massive rates of the same sorts of diseases. Here
in New Plymouth,
Down's Syndrome and Spina Bifida are going through the roof.
"Our local school has 1200 kids and in 1999 they advertised
for ten special needs teachers. I've found out in one Kindergarten alone
there are
four kids with cancer.
"People of New Plymouth are very illiterate to it all.
That's because there has been a huge cover up. Imagine the legal implications
of this. The
damages would run into billions.
"Half of my friends are dead or have brain tumors. Not
many people live to a ripe old age round here. They all die five or ten
years short of
their time. I am very angry and cannot understand why this has been ignored
for such a long time."
Drake says even his caregivers are riddled with disease. "I've
had one who had sugar diabetes, two with strokes. The girl currently looking
after me has cervical cancer.
"For years we have been wearing clothes with dioxin
on them. When we put a plate in the cupboard it is there, although you
can't see it. There's
no getting away from it around here."
Drake thought the new Labor government, with its Green allies, would order
a fresh enquiry following new American evidence on the damaging effects of
dioxin. Instead, he says, they are happy to sweep the issue under the carpet.
In June of this year Health Minister Annette King refused calls for a new
enquiry, relying on conclusions found in 1986 - interestingly a report delivered
under the previous Labor Government.
"While I appreciate the ongoing concerns about the health
of people living around New Plymouth, from the advice I have received from
Ministry
officials, I am satisfied that the monitoring and investigation carried out
around IWD previously were adequate to show that significant exposure of
the local population did not occur."
King went on to say that a study of targeted groups who believe they have
been exposed would be too expensive and difficult.
"The residents present prior to that time may have moved and would
need to be traced for testing to be meaningful," she said.
"A detailed analysis of the health data relating to
the Taranaki region would be needed before any conclusions relating to
the relative rates of
cancer, birth defects, or other diseases such as MS, could be meaningfully
compared. I understand such a process could be carried out but it is difficult
to see what would be gained by doing so now."
Not surprisingly, Andrew Gibbs disagrees. He says they are looking for recognition
and help. He points that areas like Gisborne, where 2,4,5T was sprayed has
almost identical ratios of motor neurone disease as Vietnam - isn't it time
we were at least prepared to look at the situation again?
Yet it seems the government is blinded by issues on the grounds of cost.
The residents of New Plymouth say they have already paid a high enough price
for dioxin contamination, including many lives. Their search for truth and
a sympathetic ear goes on - but so far, few people are willing to listen.

Mindful of Encroaching Harm-onization |
AMERICANS AND CANADIANS:
BE MINDFUL OF ENCROACHING HARM-ONIZATION
by John C. Hammell - www.iahf.com
OUR WHOLE HEMISPHERE IS AT RISK VIA CANADA HAVING HARM-ONIZED TO AUSTRALIA
Last summer
Health Canada harmonized Canadian vitamin regulations to Australian law.
Freedom of Choice in Health Care in Canada has filed
a lawsuit in an effort to overturn these regulations: http://www.taxtyranny.ca/.
Health Canada is gradually turning up the heat. They just announced an intention
to start pre screening all advertising for dietary supplements in what is an
obvious effort to block consumers from learning the truth about their healing
properties, and they're going to be imposing site licensing fees intended to
drive all the small companies out of business (just as happened in Australia
when the TGA came into being) unless stopped by force of law.
AMERICANS- You'd better start CONNECTING THE DOTS if you haven't already-
GRASP that an effort is underway to HARM-onize all the laws in our hemisphere
via the FTAA, (Free Trade Area of the Americas). The FTAA is intended to be
a carbon copy of the EU Dictatorship in our hemisphere.
See this site: http://www.stoptheftaa.org The animated cartoon
with the voice over which introduces this site says it all. NAFTA began a
process of outsourcing
American jobs, severely undermining our economy. FTAA would finish off the
job and horribly accelerate the "race to the bottom." All of this
is courtesy of the "NOS" crowd (Novus Ordo Seclorum) Their motto
is "Ordo Ab Chao" (Order Out of Chaos) and they're trying very hard
to force us into a global totalitarian state where their Eugenics Agenda would
be very much in force.
You
want our vitamin laws HARM-onized to Canada, Australia, the EU, and CODEX so
that we can't have strong immune systems, so that we
will DIE before our
65th birthdays so we "won't hit the entitlement programs too hard"???
Didn't
think so, but don't ever say it "can't happen here." It’s
happening. Our would be masters are boiling the frog slowly, hoping the American
people, (and people world wide) will never notice til its too late to do anything
to stop their nefarious efforts to cull our numbers....
The single most strategic thing vitamin consumers world wide can do to STOP
CODEX is to donate to the Alliance for Natural Health's lawsuit to overturn
the EU Food Supplement Directive via http://www.alliance-natural-health.org,
however these tangential battles are also very important and we must all work
together against our common enemy: The Pharma Cartel.
IAHF strongly encourages members of the NZ Parliament to read this thought
provoking, heavily DOCUMENTED article: DEATH BY MEDICINE: http://www.garynull.com/ which documents that physician prescribed prescription drugs are currently
the leading cause of death in the world.
In stark
CONSTRAST to dangerous prescription drugs, dietary supplements are quite
SAFE: see this comparative table which assessing the relative danger
of using dietary supplements with other threats in our presence including prescription
drugs, lightening strikes, bee stings, etc: This table was created by Ron Law
in New Zealand so it uses NZ data: http://www.laleva.cc/.

Rogues'

by William F. Jasper
The New American, May 31, 2004
...In this
article we profile several key agents who have been playing major roles in
the rigged debates and battles over CAFTA, FTAA, WTO expansion and other
trade agreements. An old rule of politics
is very apropos in this respect: Follow the money. That’s what you must
do if you want to know who is working for whom, and what their real agenda
is. An important corollary is: Follow the arguments. No matter how strongly
they protest against the FTAA (or CAFTA, or the WTO), if they are willing,
ultimately, to compromise U.S. sovereignty for their own objectives, they are
themselves compromised. And a final corollary: Follow the connections. As the
examples below illustrate, the agents charged with controlling the opposition
usually have identifiable ties to principal organizations that are leading
the charge for world government.
Ralph Nader — “Citizen Ralph" is the quintessential Establishment
revolutionary — fed, funded, pampered and promoted by the globalist elites
and one-world corporatists he claims to be fighting. With generous funding
from Insider foundations (Ford, Rockefeller, Carnegie, Field, Rubin, Stern,
et al.), over the past several decades Nader has launched a plethora of radical “public
interest" groups that have become a permanent, full-time lobbying force
for ever bigger government. They include: Public Citizen, Congress Watch, Citizen
Works, Public Interest Research Group, Center for the Study of Responsive Law,
Center for Auto Safety, Government Purchasing Project and the Congressional
Accountability Project.
Nader’s two main organizations involved
in trade issues are Public Citizen and Global Trade Watch (GTW). The GTW
website tells us: Thanks to initial support from the Ford Foundation, last year we
launched a major project on international harmonization of standards that unites
GTW and Public Citizen’s medical, legal, energy/environmental, and product/auto
safety divisions. NAFTA and the WTO include requirements to either globally
standardize regulatory policies or declare other nations’ standards as “equivalent." We
now work with numerous local, state, and federal policy-makers, and also with
NGOs, to make them aware of these issues and facilitate their input and participation.
[Emphasis added.]
Harmonization. That’s one of the euphemisms
adopted from the socialist/internationalist lexicon of the European Union.
The globalist architects of the EU insisted
for years that harmonization of national laws and social policies would not
compromise national sovereignty or local control. But that is precisely what
it has done. How could it have been otherwise, when local and national governments
are required to bring their laws into conformity with the emerging supranational
government?
Robert Wright, a senior editor for The
New Republic, acknowledged Nader’s
deceptive role in the anti-globalization charade in the magazine’s January
17, 2000 issue. Mr. Wright, an ardent one-worlder, was jubilant concerning
the global structures developing under NAFTA and the WTO. In a cover story — entitled “America
is surrendering its sovereignty to a world government. Hooray” — Wright
noted that “Nader and most of the Seattle left would gladly accept a
sovereignty-crushing world body if it followed the leftish model of supranational
governance found in the European Union.” “Indeed,” he said, “it
was partly to please the Seattle activists that President Clinton espoused
a future WTO whose member nations would meet global environmental and labor
standards or else face sanction.”
Nader, who ran for the White House in 1996 and 2000 on the Green Party ticket,
has adopted the same deceptive tactics and rhetoric that the European Green
Parties and the Socialist Group in the EU Parliament have used to drive their
countries further into the EU trap. Nader remains the committed socialist that
he was in the 1960s.
During an interview in Australia in 1972, he
explained his solution for America’s
problems: “What is needed is socialism or communism of one sort or another.”
For the past four decades (and continuing to
the present), Nader has worked closely with top apparatchiks from the Institute
for Policy Studies (IPS),
the Marxist cabal with long-standing ties to the Soviet KGB and Castro’s
DGI. In 2003 he endorsed the California gubernatorial campaign of Peter Camejo,
a longtime Trotskyite communist activist in the Socialist Workers Party.
Lori Wallach — As a founding member of the International Forum on Globalization
and the director and chief spokesman for Ralph Nader’s Global Trade Watch,
Lori Wallach is one of the Insider-designated top leaders of the “anti-globalization” movement.
Ms. Wallach was the subject of an extraordinary 27-page-long cover story/interview
in the Spring 2000 issue of Foreign Policy, published by the Carnegie Endowment
for International Peace, a globalist, CFR-laden outfit which is for the WTO
and the FTAA. The adulatory puff piece, entitled “Lori’s War,” was
intended to signal to the CFR media crowd that Wallach is the “go to” person
for Establishment-approved opposition in interviews, debates, congressional
testimony, panels, etc. She has testified on trade issues more than 30 times
before congressional committees and has received prominent coverage from nearly
all of the major radio and television networks and newspapers.
Interestingly, at about the same time that
the Foreign Policy globalists were singing her praises, Wallach was also
being glorified by Inter Press Service
(IPS), the Marxist propaganda agency with correspondents and outlets in more
than 60 countries and headquarters at UN Plaza in New York City. In an article
entitled “Lori Wallach, Tireless Campaigner Against Corporate Globalisation,” for
its April-May 2000 “Women As Leaders” series, the IPS lauded Wallach
as “the trade debate’s guerilla warrior.” It’s not
a coincidence that Inter Press Service has the same IPS acronym as the Institute
for Policy Studies; it was created by radicals from the Marxist think tank
in 1981 and the two have been joined at the hip ever since. Wallach has worked
closely with these IPS/IPS comrades for years, especially in the super-radical
International Forum on Globalization (IFG), where she served on the Drafting
Committee of the “Alternatives to Economic Globalization” report,
IFG’s shockingly blatant call for socialist world government under a
vastly empowered UN.
In the course of her Foreign
Policy interview
in 2000, Wallach admitted that GTW is funded by the Ford Foundation. She
also stated that she favors “a
global regime of rules” in which the WTO’s authority would be expanded
to cover other things beside trade issues. She called for “empowering
institutions such as the International Labor Organization (ILO), which right
now is toothless and useless.” In its January-February 2004 issue, Foreign
Policy very graciously gave Wallach valuable space for an essay entitled “Trade
Secrets: The real message of the recent collapse of trade talks in Cancun,” alongside
an article by billionaire George Soros (CFR), who funds both sides of the controlled
FTAA “debate.” (See the first installment of “A NAFTA/FTAA
Rogues’ Gallery” for more on Soros.) Activists who genuinely and
unalterably oppose the FTAA and WTO know their chances of receiving similarly
favorable treatment and opportunities are about nil. Likewise, they will not
be invited to speak at meetings of the CFR and World Economic Forum, as Wallach,
the supposed nemesis of globalization, frequently does. Wallach leads a charmed
life, flitting between confabs of the CFR corporate/government elite and their
paid “opposition” on the Left.
John Cavanagh — A former economist for the UN Conference on Trade and
Development (UNCTAD) and the World Health Organization, John Cavanagh is now
director of the subversive Institute for Policy Studies and a perennial activist
in many of its Marxist spin-off organizations and projects. He has been particularly
active and influential at the International Forum on Globalization (IFG), an
ultra-left coalition funded by the usual foundations (Ford, Rockefeller, Turner,
et al.) and run by Cavanagh’s pal and fellow Marxist, Jerry Mander. Together
with Mander, Lori Wallach, Sarah Anderson (IPS officer), Walden Bello (IPS
Transnational Institute), Robin Broad (CFR fellow and Carnegie Endowment associate)
and twelve other radicals, Cavanagh served on the IFG Drafting Committee that
wrote the “Alternatives to Economic Globalization” report. That
report, a global socialist manifesto, proposes a radical transformation of
the UN, with new empowered institutions.
Cavanagh is the co-author with Richard J. Barnet
(CFR, IPS) of Global Dreams: Imperial Corporations and the New World
Order.
He has also appeared on CFR-sponsored
panels on trade with pro-FTAA CFR members Peter Hakim, Bruce Stokes and Thomas
McLarty. During one of those CFR panel discussions concerning the FTAA Quebec
Summit, Cavanagh had the temerity to insist that he represents the “mainstream” political
perspective. Cavanagh claimed that another of his foundation-funded coalitions,
the Hemispheric Social Alliance, represents “about 45 million people
across the hemisphere.” And, he said, “It’s not as though
we are extreme groups; we represent the mainstream public opinion of these
societies.” The only places Cavanagh and his IPS cadres could legitimately
claim “mainstream” status would be in the Soviet Politburo or Fidel
Castro’s Peoples’ Paradise.
Luis Inacio Lula da Silva — In 2002, Lula da Silva (known as Lula) took
some lessons in image makeover from Hillary Clinton, Yasir Arafat and Vladimir
Putin. It was his fourth run for president of Brazil; this time he would moderate
his Communist Workers’ Party’s image. It worked; he is now the
chief executive of Latin America’s most populous country and its biggest
economy. Congratulations for his election win poured in, from Fidel Castro,
the Socialist International, Communist parties — and the Council on Foreign
Relations. Kenneth Maxwell, director of the CFR’s Latin American Studies
program, wrote an op-ed for the September 27, 2002 Financial Times scolding
Lula’s critics for mentioning Lula’s long Red record. After all,
Maxwell said, echoing the CFR line, “the Cold War is long over.” Maybe
he should explain that to Comrade Lula, who insists on wearing his Communist
red star lapel pin from the Cold War era and still participates in the Sao
Paulo Forum (SPF), the international terrorist conference he helped found with
Fidel Castro. To help celebrate his electoral victory, Lula invited Castro
and Hugo Chavez (Venezuela’s Marxist president) as his first official
state guests. Marco Aurelio Garcia, who founded the SPF with Lula and still
serves as Lula’s top adviser, is a hard-line Marxist-Leninist, who participated
in Salvador Allende’s Cuban-directed attempt to communize Chile. “We
have to first give the impression that we are democrats,” Garcia explained
to Brazil’s Communist faithful. “Initially, we have to accept certain
things. But that won’t last.”
But these
words, even coupled with ominous, visible reality, didn’t
perturb the Pratt House globalists. On December 5, 2002, CFR “expert” Kenneth
Maxwell was defending Lula again, this time in the New York Review of Books.
Maxwell, who had recently returned from a Brazil trip, said “Lula’s
triumph seemed like the realization of an American dream,” and he was
miffed that anti-communists might spoil that dream. He dismissed Lula’s
Castro, Chavez, and SPF connections as inconsequential. Interestingly, two
days later, on December 7, the online edition of the People’s Weekly
World (PWW), official newspaper of the Communist Party USA, also ran an
article on Lula. In it, PWW interviewed Luis Fernandes, a leader of the Communist
Party
of Brazil, who helped run the Lula campaign. Comrade Fernandes enthusiastically
explained that when Lula won, all his fellow Communists “came out into
the streets dressed in red” to celebrate.
PWW went on to report: “During the election campaign, Lula charged that
FTAA would clear the way for ‘annexation’ of Latin America by the
United States while Mercosur is a buttress against U.S. control.” Mercosur
is a regional trade bloc that includes Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay
as full members, and Chile and Bolivia as associate members. Lula’s line
is that the Mercosur countries must accelerate their integration as a sub-region
to avoid being swallowed up by the much larger FTAA. The truth is that the
socialist, sovereignty-destroying program Lula is pushing for Mercosur would
demolish almost all currently existing national barriers of member countries
against absorption by the FTAA. In fact, CFR one-worlders (like Maxwell) have
been pushing for Mercosur integration for decades. They know that Mercosur,
like FTAA, is part of the global WTO regime. Mr. Lula knows this too, of course;
he and his top administration officials hobnob regularly with the CFR crowd
at globalist conclaves. In fact, Lula himself was the main speaker at a special “Meeting
With President Lula” sponsored by the CFR in New York on September 25,
2003.
Hugo Chavez — No one appears better poised, at this time, to assume
the mantle of leadership of the revolution in Latin America from Cuba’s
aging dictator than Hugo Chavez. Since winning Venezuela’s 1998 presidential
election, Chavez has been taking his country ever leftward toward dictatorship.
He has rewritten the constitution and assumed more and more powers. He uses
his “Bolivarian Circles” — armed thugs and neighborhood spies,
patterned after Castro’s Committees for the Defense of the Revolution — to
beat, intimidate and murder his opposition.
During his 1999 visit to Beijing, Chavez praised
mass murderer Mao Zedong and declared: “I have been very Maoist all my life.” Communist
China has stepped up investing in projects in Venezuela, one of the world’s
top oil producers and one of the major foreign suppliers of oil to the U.S.
Chavez has given hugs and praise to Fidel Castro, Saddam Hussein, North Korean
dictator Kim Jong Il and Libyan terrorist-in-chief Col. Qaddafi.
Castro, whom Chavez refers to as “dear brother,” has sent his
KGB-trained DGI agents to help Chavez transform Venezuela’s internal
security service, the DISIP, into a Soviet-model secret police force. After
his failed 1992 coup attempt, Chavez went to Cuba, Libya and Iraq. He came
back with plenty of money to launch his political campaign. He is a veteran
member of the Sao Paulo Forum terrorist network and has opened Venezuela to
al-Qaeda, Hezbollah and the ELN and FARC narco-terrorists of Colombia. Hakim
Mamad Ali Diad Fattah, a Venezuelan-born Arab who is now back in Venezuela,
may have been another intended hijacker on September 11, 2001. Fattah entered
the U.S. with forged documents (most likely provided by the DGI-DISIP) and
took lessons at the same New Jersey flight school attended by Hani Hanjour,
who authorities say crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon.
According to the FBI, Fattah had talked about blowing up an airliner. After
9-11, Chavez refused to provide information on Fattah and other individuals
raising money for Hezbollah in Venezuela. In 2002, General Marcos Ferreira
resigned as head of Venezuela’s Border Security because Chavez was ordering
him to destroy files on Hezbollah terrorists and to allow known terrorists
to cross Venezuela’s borders in transit to Cuba and Colombia.
Despite his notorious words and deeds, the
CFR brain trust has been all too willing to look benignly upon Chavez’s militant revolutionary plans.
One reason is obvious: Along with Brazil’s Lula (see above) he is pushing
for Mercosur integration, a major stepping stone to the FTAA.
John Sweeney — Thanks to the financial and moral support of AFL-CIO President
John Sweeney, the “anti-globalization” charade — frequently
accompanied by riots and destruction — has provided the spectacle needed
for the appearance of popular opposition. If the anti-FTAA/WTO demonstrations
relied solely on the radical Greens, with their peculiar (and often repellent)
appearance and extreme, anti-human proposals, they would alienate far more
people than they attracted. The labor unions provide some balance, with lots
of normal-looking “working guys.” Union-chartered buses transport
thousands of union activists to marches and demonstrations; millions of dollars
of union dues help fund the AFL-CIO’s anti-FTAA/WTO campaign. But it is not truly an anti-FTAA campaign.
Sweeney (CFR) told activists at a Miami rally on November 19, 2003 that they
must “radically rewrite” the
FTAA to “protect workers from profit-hungry multinationals and repressive
governments.” This fits with his other proposals to empower the UN’s
International Labor Organization to enforce a global labor code. It also dovetails
with his support for the Clinton and Bush amnesty proposals for illegal aliens,
a very definite blow to the U.S. citizens who make up most of his union member
base and whose jobs are being taken by a continuing deluge of foreign workers.
Like most of the phony opponents of the FTAA, Sweeney is comfortable in both
the pro and con camps. Some of his staunchest supporters in the union are Communist
Party loyalists and 1960s radicals from the Institute for Policy Studies, Democratic
Socialists of America and the American Friends Service Committee. But he is
also invited to elite gatherings of the World Economic Forum, David Rockefeller’s
Trilateral Commission and Council of the Americas, and Gorbachev’s State
of the World Forum.
