Hi Everyone, here is Dr. Group's Quote of the Month: "Speaking the truth should always be practiced, as truth never injures the soul of others and always leads to self progression. A person who habitually
speaks lies must constantly remember what he said and at some point will most certainly trip and fall, while a person who habitually speaks truth will not need to be concerned about past conversations and will be valued as trustworthy, prosperous and peaceful." --Dr. Edward F. Naturally...
by Tim Bolen "Naturopathy" has been around since man's ancestors crawled out of the sea and ate their first plant. Humorously, we might say that the ingestion of plants became a science after the first cave woman watched her husband leave the cave dwelling one morning, stop two caves down to flirt with the local cutie, and served him some strange smelling leaves in his lunch salad - giving him the worst case of diarrhea in history - and then told all her girlfriends how to prepare that salad. But, in reality, it was those societies that through time learned to use natural things in their daily lives that thrived. That same cave woman and her girlfriends mentioned above probably knew what leaves to boil up to take the fever down in their offspring, and could deal with the scrapes and wounds inflicted on male hunting parties. There is no question that everything "Naturopaths" deal in has been thoroughly field tested, and the results recorded, or passed on, in every civilization, race, culture, subculture, geographic grouping, or whatever, throughout history. "Naturopathy" predates "medicine" by over a million years. It's here, it's been here, and it isn't going anywhere. Thank God for that. Today, worldwide, I'd guess, there are four major groupings of "Naturopaths" - there are (1) Traditional Naturopaths - those that help others, either professionally, or by education, - usually trained in small, traditional, schools and apprenticeships (2) Naturopathic Physicians - those that employ some naturopathic principles integrated with medicine - usually trained in four-year schools - and required to have licenses to practice because of their dangerous "medical" offerings, (3) Practical Naturopaths - those that learn naturopathy for their own, or their family's use, and (4) Already licensed health occupations, PhDs, scientists, etc., that take naturopathic training. The "naturopathic" approach to health care, taken in its whole, I'd say, is far more accepted by the general public than "medicine," by perhaps 10 to 1 - maybe more. Certainly, there are far more purchases on the "natural" side. Closely related to "Naturopathy" is "Nutrition." Think of "nutrition" as proper eating to get what your body needs to operate at peak - and "naturopathy" as the use of natural things, including foods and herbs, to correct a health problem or eliminate the cause of a disease. Those who deal with "nutrition" in North America are called either "Nutritionists" or "Dieticians." Sometimes they are called "Certified Nutritionists" or "Registered Dieticians." Sound good so far? It should sound good, because our North American educational system, at the Elementary or High School level, where ALL OF US should have been given some of this information, failed us. These groups take up the slack. But, I'm about to show you the fly in the ointment. The Best Laid Plans... So tell me - with such an obvious need for people trained to deal with an un-informed public, how come these groups are fighting amongst themselves? And they are. In more States, in the US, than I want to count, organizations representing "Registered Dieticians" are trying to get laws passed making it a criminal act for ANYONE, including a parent of a child to recommend to ANYONE, including their own children, what's good, or not good, for them to eat. A CRIMINAL Act - and this from the group responsible for HOSPITAL FOOD. The "Registered Dieticians" in those States even more, want the "Certified Nutritionists" put into prison - just because they compete with them. Also, in more States, in the US, than I want to count, organizations representing "Naturopathic Physicians" are trying to get laws passed making it a crime for ANYONE, including those trained years ago in naturopathy from accepted schools of the time to use the name Naturopathic Doctor (ND) unless they went to one of their four-year schools. They want, like the dieticians to the nutritionists, to make the use of the title ND a prison offense unless that person went to one of their schools - even though the title has legally been given as a degree in North America for over a hundred years. Traditional Naturopaths, outnumbering the Naturopathic Physicians (NP), perhaps 60 to 1, object to this attempt, and openly sneer at the NP's education, stating the obvious - that "naturopathy" and "medicine" are no more similar than apples and oranges. . Grow up, people... I have nothing but disgust for those of you who think you need a law to protect your "turf." If you are not good enough to compete in the health world, successfully, without a law giving you exclusive rights, go get a job at McDonalds. This is America.. More to come... I've been carefully watching a situation in Colorado involving Naturopaths. I know that there are Court documents about to be on the table in this situation - so I'll soon be writing about this case. What amazes me is that there are so-called "Naturopathic Physicians" that have allied themselves with the "quackbusters" to attack "Traditional Naturopaths." Bathing In Death - A Look Inside A Rendering Plant
by GS - Earth Island Journal Editor Comment: The next time you lather up with your favorite shampoo or body soap you should strongly consider the source of the main ingredient -- DEAD ANIMAL FAT! It appears in the form of tallow and glycerine. Rendering has been called "the silent industry." Each year in the US, 286 rendering plants quietly dispose of more than 12.5 million tons of dead animals, fat and meat wastes. As the public relations watchdog newsletter PR Watch observes, renderers "are thankful that most people remain blissfully unaware of their existence." When City Paper reporter Van Smith visited Baltimore's Valley Proteins rendering plant last summer, he found that the "hoggers" (the large vats used to grind and filter animal tissues prior to deep-fat frying) held an eclectic mix of body parts ranging from "dead dogs, cats, raccoons, possums, deer, foxes [and] snakes" to a "baby circus elephant'' and the remains of Bozeman, a Police Department quarterhorse that "died in the line of duty." In an average month, Baltimore's pound hands over 1,824 dead animals to Valley Proteins. Last year, the plant transformed 150 millions pounds of decaying flesh and kitchen grease into 80 million pounds of commercial meat and bone meal, tallow and yellow grease. Thirty years ago, most of the renderer's wastes came from small markets and slaughterhouses. Today, thanks to the proliferation of fast-food restaurants, nearly half the "raw material" is kitchen grease and frying oil. Recycling dead pets and wildlife into animal food is "a very small part of the business that we don't like to advertise," Valley Proteins' president J. J. Smith told City Paper. The plant processes these animals as a "public service, not for profit," Smith said, since ''there is not a lot of protein and fat [on pets]..., just a lot of hair you have to deal with somehow." According to the City Paper, Valley Proteins "sells inedible animal parts and rendered material to Alpo, Heinz and Ralston-Purina." Valley Proteins insists that it does not sell "dead-pet byproducts" to pet food firms since "they are all very sensitive to the recycled pet potential." Valley Proteins maintains two production lines -- one for clean meat and bones and a second line for dead pets and wildlife. However, Smith reported, "the protein material is a mix from both production lines. Thus the meat and bone meal made at the plant includes materials from pets and wildlife, and about five percent of that product goes to dry-pet-food manufacturers...." A 1991 USDA report states that, "approximately 7.9 billion pounds of meat and bone meal, blood meal and feather meal [were] produced in 1983." Of that amount, 34 percent was used in pet food, 34 percent in poultry feed, 20 percent in pig food and ten percent in beef and dairy cattle feed. Transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE) carried in pig and chicken-laden foods eventually may eclipse the threat of "Mad Cow Disease." The risk of household pet-exposure to TSE from contaminated pet food is more than three times greater than the risk for hamburger-eating humans. Prevention Is Key To Prostate Health
by Klaus Ferlow Infection, enlargement and cancer are three common problems that challenge prostate health. According to the Canadian Cancer Society prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in Canadian men and it accounts for almost one in four cancer diagnoses. In 2002, an estimated 18,200 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer; 4,300 died from it. On average, 350 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer every week. Of those diagnosed, 83 will die each week. Further, statistics reveal that one in eight men will develop prostate cancer during his lifetime after age 70 and one in 28 will die from it. Symptoms of an enlarged prostate typically appear in men after 50 years of age, in many cases even earlier. An enlarged prostate does not necessarily indicate cancer, but it is a symptom that should not be ignored. It is not uncommon for the prostate gland to become enlarged as a man ages. This condition is referred to as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The exact cause of this condition is not known. Prostate enlargement and cancer are both linked to hormonal changes that occur as men get older which is similar to the menopausal changes that occur in women. Statistics show that approximately 75% of males between the ages of 30 to 40 will develop enlargement of the prostate. This increases to 90% of men over the age of 65 years. Here are some signs to watch out for. Your health care practitioner or physician should check out any of these symptoms.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Try to Avoid

Of the herbs listed, saw palmetto is the most commonly used herb to offer protection for the prostate. Studies have shown that saw palmetto alters the hormone level, thereby shrinking the prostate. Clinical trials have established saw palmetto to be an effective alternative to prostate surgery. Men using it also experience an increase in sex drive and ability to function sexually. It must be used long-term to shrink the prostate, but many men notice an improvement in their symptoms within six weeks. Saw palmetto can be used to increase strength and muscle mass and it works best when combined with exercise program. Men should have an annual check up with their health care practitioner from the age of forty onward. Good prostate health begins with prevention. by Dr. Edward F. Group III, DC, Ph.D, ND, DACBN Here's a look at some of the most common diets people are using. I personally do not recommend or endorse any of the following diet plans. I recommend the “Bio-Rhythm Diet Plan” outlined in the “Weight Loss Secrets Revealed” E-book at www.weightlossobesity.com website. The Atkins DietThe Atkins diet is based on high protein, low-carbohydrate fare. It allows all of the meat and vegetables you want with no restrictions on fats. Fruits are kept to a minimum. Bread, pasta, and other grain products are restricted. Many people have had weight loss success on the Atkins’ Diet because it offers many delicious food options. However, it can be high in fat, possible harmful over long periods of time and low in fiber and calcium. The Carbohydrate Addict's DietThis is another reduced carbohydrate diet that allows meats, dairy, vegetables, fruits, and grain products, but restricts all other carbohydrates. It tends to be quite high in fat and saturated fat. The Choose to Lose DietThis is a low fat diet that allows you to eat from all of the major food groups. You are only restricted by a "fat budget" that you choose how to spend. Carbohydrates are allowed, as well as lean meat, poultry, seafood, fruits, vegetables, bread and pasta. The Choose to Lose Diet allows an ample amount of fruits and vegetables and it is low in saturated fat and it provides a fairly healthy eating plan for fast weight loss. The DASH DietThe DASH diet allows for a high carbohydrate intake, with moderate amounts of fat and protein. It was originally designed as a low-pressure diet. The DASH diet follows the principles of the Food Pyramid, but it suggests more servings of fruits and vegetables (up to nine daily,) and more dairy servings (two to three daily servings of low fat or nonfat dairy.) The DASH diet may require too much food for most people to see weight loss results. The Eat More Weigh Less DietThis diet is an extremely low-fat diet that focuses on vegetarian fare. It allows fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, egg whites, and some nonfat dairy products. This is a very restricted diet that limits even healthy foods like lean organic meats, poultry, and low-fat dairy products. This diet is great for vegetarians, but it is low in calcium, and it may be too difficult for most people to follow long enough to see weight loss results. The Eat Right For Your Blood Type DietThis diet plan bases you food choices on your blood type. For example, those with Type O blood follow an eating plan that includes lots of meat. Some of the "blood type" diets in this plan are too restricted in calories and they may be poor in nutritional balance. Little proof is offered on basis of the diet, that blood type should affect dietary choices. The Pritkin Principle DietThis diet focuses on restricting calories and eating more "watery" foods that fill you up quicker. (It follows the same principle that suggests you should drink a full glass of water before each meal to make your stomach feel full faster. It allows fruits, vegetables, pasta, oatmeal, soups, salads, and low-fat dairy, but limits protein sources to lean meats, poultry and seafood. This is a low-fat diet that offers plenty of fruits and vegetables, but it can be low in calcium. The Protein Power DietThis is a very high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet. It allows for lots of meats and fats but limits that consumption of fruits and vegetables. This is a very restrictive diet that limits healthy foods like whole grains and beans. It is very high in fat, especially saturated fat and it is very low in calcium. Power BustersThis is a low-carbohydrate diet that is high in fat and protein. Fruits and grain products are forbidden, but high-fat meats and dairy products are allowed. Like many other low-carb diets, the Power Busters diet is high in fat, high in saturated fat, and low in calcium. VolumetricsThe Volumetrics diet is a restricted calorie diet that allows fruits, vegetables, pasta, oatmeal, soups, salads, lean meats, poultry, seafood and dairy. High fat food and "dry" foods like crackers, pretzels, and popcorn are restricted. It is low in saturated fat and provides an ample amount of fruits and vegetables.. Weight WatchersThis diet does not restrict followers to a set meal plan. Dieters are able to plan their own diet every day following a point system that allows the dieter to spend a certain "allowance" in each category. This diet allows moderate fat and protein intake and high carbohydrate consumption. Generally, vegetables and whole grain products have the lowest point value and high fat foods "cost" the most amount of points. The ZoneThis diet is moderately high in protein and low in carbohydrates. It allows low fat foods like chicken and fish and plenty of fruits and vegetables. But whole grains are restricted. This is a healthy eating plan, although it is low in calcium. Taking the product Slimirex™ can help you manage your weight. by Tash Hughes of Word Constructions Christmas is not seen as a good time for anyone on a diet. It doesn't matter if you are on a diet to lose weight, be healthy or deal with a disease, the range of food available at Christmas is intimidating for dieters. However, Christmas need not mean the end of your diet or a struggle through January to compensate. There are ways to keep your diet healthy during the Christmas season. ModerationKeeping things in moderation is a major key to the Christmas overeating issue. It is easy to say "eat and drink in moderation", but not quiet so easy to carry out so here are some ideas for moderating what you eat this festive season.
AlternativesWhenever you have control over the food on offer, always look for the healthier alternative to prepare and serve. Likewise, make suggestions to other people who will be feeding you over the holiday period. This is a good opportunity to make Christmas a bit different this year - for instance, try a picnic this year with lots of salads rather than huge roasts or do an activity with friends instead of having a Christmas drinks night. Some ways to reduce the fat content and increase the nutritional value of Christmas foods are listed below. Which ones apply will depend on the style of occasion you are cooking for. Vegetables
Meat
Desserts

Most addictions are your own feelings of “Self Hatred”. Do you beat yourself down after those 2 candy bars? These are negative thought patterns which repeat over and over in your mind amounting to a destructive force. Next time you have an urge to fulfill an addiction repeat the words “I approve of myself and I love myself”. Eventually the self-hatred thoughts will disappear."
