10 Green Habits for Healthy Digestion

Green Living

Environmentalism is all the rage. We call it "going green" these days. Green living involves keeping your environment clean. Put trash in its receptacle not on the ground, recycle and keep your air and water clean for a healthier planet.

Green living is also a return to more natural living. Food is a key component in today's green living movement. Natural, organically grown produce and cattle put less strain on the environment by reducing the pesticides and genetically modified organisms filtering into the earth.

Choosing to eat organics is a big part of green living because it promotes healthy digestion. For a healthy digestive system, eating organically produced foods means eating foods with nutrients the body is able to process, without harmful toxins.

Our bodies are bombarded with millions of toxins constantly to the point of overload. Reducing toxins promotes healthy digestion and by relation cultivates a formidable environment to fight off infections.

Try implementing the following green habits for healthy digestion:
  1. Eat organically grown food from organic farmers, or grow your own
  2. Substitute range fed beef in your diet for regular beef
  3. Always rinse food items before serving and preparing
  4. Decrease the amount of red meat that you eat
  5. Replace sugar and sugar substitutes with agave nectar
  6. Eat the recommended daily allowance of live fruit and vegetables
  7. Drink purified water mostly as it's the only thing your body requires to live
  8. Exercise regularly as this stimulates digestion as well
  9. Take time to relax and release stress from your body through meditation
  10. Use good quality air and water filtration systems and keep the filters clean

There are many things that you can do to have a better quality of life. These are just a few to help you on your way. For more information on fruit and vegetables, review Colon Cleansing Foods in our January 2008 newsletter.
